Cubs Meet for County Rally at Rushden
More than 850 Cubs from 55 packs in Northamptonshire converged on Spencer Park, Rushden on Saturday, for the annual County Rally. Mr Cyril Freeman, chairman of Rushden Urban Council, cut short his visit to Brighton, where he was attending a conference, to welcome the boys to the town.
Following the welcome the boys dispersed and re-formed in groups for games until tea. Later, a concert was given by the boys belonging to Corby packs. The rally was rounded off with a camp fire and songs about 5.30pm. The Cub section of Rushden and District Boy Scouts’ Association, the organising body, were expecting about 1,500 at the rally. The fall in numbers is thought partly to have been accounted for by the fact that next Saturday there is the national rally at Gilwell Park.
