Out of a Cine Class at Rushden Evening Institute in 1966 was born, in 1967, the present Cine Club.
Instigated by Mr & Mrs Tom Young a public meeting was called and the number of Cine enthusiasts attending formed the basis of the Club. Cliff Pack and John Whittington ran the club from June to September and at the first A.G.M. were elected Chairman & Vice-Chairman respectively, Tom Young becoming President and John Noble the Hon-Secretary. Cliff Pack and John Noble have retained their posts for the whole 25 years.
First meeting place was the Rock Foundation Hall, then a transfer was made to Rushden Adult School. When that Hall was closed a move was made to Higham Ferrers Adult School where we still meet on every 2nd & 4th Monday of each month.
Members are encouraged to make films for competition and winners form the basis of a Film Programme which is shown to many organisations.
With the advent of Video, a new upsurge of interest has arisen with lots more to learn in using the new equipment, which means that the Club has a further important role to play.
In view of this our name has been changed to incorporate this new media, and we are now . . .
