Jacqueline Crowned Queen of Industry

Although rough winds and cold weather kept a few people away, the carnival spirit was not dampened as about seventy people saw Miss Jacqueline Case, crowned Rushden Carnival Queen of Industry for 1965, at Spencer Park, Rushden, last night.

Mr. Bernard Palmer, chairman of Rushden Carnival Committee, introduced Mrs. Audrey Perkins, vice-chairman of Rushden Urban Council who performed the crowning ceremony.

Mrs. Perkins was deputising for Mrs. D. E. Shrive, chairman of the council, who is away on business.

Both Mrs. Perkins and Mr. Palmer hoped the weather would improve for the carnival parade and fete tomorrow.

The queen, who was accompanied by her attendants, Miss Janice Lee and Miss Jennifer Wynd, said she was pleased and proud to be chosen and would carry out her engagements to the best of her ability. She also thanked Mrs. Perkins.

The ceremony was followed by a dance, at which the music was provided by the Soundtracks.
