Propect House stood at the top of Higham Hill. It was built in the 1870s for Mr Thomas Sanders who was an Alderman and Mayor of Higham Ferrers.

Miss Payne opened a private school here in 1912.

The Willey family resided there into the 1960s. Their son Graham opened an estate agency in Rushden.

Mr. John White bought the property as executive offices for his shoe manufacturing business. After he retired, under the Ward White name, the company eventually moved their offices to Hargrave Hall.

The house was demolished about 1970 for new housing, and Firdale Avenue was built on the grounds. It backs onto the recreation ground in St James Close, where children in the 1950s would often see Mr Willey on horseback riding near the boundary fence.
