Rushden Echo, 5th July 1918, transcribed by Kay Collins
Mr. W. Roe, of Rushden, last week ploughed 40 acres of land with a Government tractor “The Fordson.” This is a record for one week’s work in the county. The tractor was actually working 54 hours, and the consumption slightly under two gallons of paraffin per acre. The work was done in five different fields with a two furrow automatic Oliver plough. Mr. C. B. Greening was the supervisor and Messrs. York and Ward (Wellingborough) the engineers.
