Harvest 1879

Wellingborough News, 6th September 1879, transcribed by Kay Collins

HARVEST work is being carried on in Rushden district with much activity, the labourers being determined to make the most of the fine weather. The wheat crops look fairly well, but it is feared barley will make a very poor crop. Potatoes grown in gardens are very much diseased, but those grown in the field are not so much affected.
