Walter Charles Tarry, was born in Yardley Hastings on 17th September 1876, the son of Jonathan and Annie. He worked as a clicker in the boot trade and was living in Northampton in 1901, where in 1898 he married Edith Emily Sear. They lived at Northampton, before moving to Rushden. On the 12th February 1915 he was appointed one of the directors of The Tecnic Shoe Company.
In 1919 Mr Tarry and his family became the sole owners of the company. He built a new factory in Bedford Road in 1923 and then built a new house, in 1926, close to the factory. The family moved from Portland Road, to 'Durlands', Bedford Road. Edith died in 1947, and Walter died in 1978 aged 102.
