Xmas Card 1962

This card was sent by Councillor Cyril Freeman in 1962, and it shows two views of High Street. The first is dated 1882 and the second 1962.

The old Post Office centre of 1962 photo, was built where the trees stood in 1882, and it was taken over in the 1930s by the Midland Bank and toady (2008) it is the HSBC bank.

To the left of the building across College Street, stands the Rose and Crown public house. The roof top is clearly the same as in the 1882 photograph.
