Wymington Road
Formerly known as Wymington Avenue

Land Sale 1931

Development of the road began in the 1930s following the sale of the Rushden Hall Estate on the north side.

the south side of the road was Rushden House, sold in 1919, and developed into a Sanatorium and later as Rushden Hospital.

In the 1930s the first houses were built. Just behind the man with a stick
is the entrance into Rushden Hall Park opened in 1930.

and the trees on the south side had filled the verge.

At the boundary with Wymington Parish an old windmill once stood.

A plan was passed by the Council in July 1920 for the old windmill base to be converted into a cottage, by builder F James, for Mrs Dilley. The base of the windmill was octagonal. It was to be divided into two rooms, a bedroom and a kitchen/living room with a small pantry. Another plan for an earth closet was passed in 1923. In 1922 the stables were converted into a bungalow.
