Plans to improve Rushden Hall

Plans to build an implements store and generally improve the rear of Rushden Hall, estimated to cost £2,860, will come to Rushden Urban Council tomorrow for approval. It is intended to replace old stabling and a hut.

The parks committee report that they have asked for a report on repairs needed to the entrance lodge to the hall.

It is also proposed to apply for a loan of £950 to buy land adjoining property already acquired by the council in Kilburn-place which is suitable as a site for a group of old people's dwellings.

The report of the housing committee puts the number of housing units to be built by March next year at 68, including 38 now building.

Equipment costing £2,958 for improvements at the sewage disposal works should be bought, the public health committee recommend.

Gates gift to Rushden

Rushden Urban Council has been given a Christmas present —a pair of teak gates—by shoe manufacturer Mr. John White.

He has suggested that they might be used at the entrance to the Hall Grounds.

Accepting the gift, the parks committee has recommended that the surveyor should submit proposals for the use of the gates at the entrance.

Some years ago Mr. White presented the bandstand which now stands in the Hall Grounds.
