Grenson's Factory

Work started to clear most of the site at Grenson's old shoe factory in Upper Queen Street, by A R Demolition, from Nuneaton in Warwickshire, and this began in early 2016. I use the word "most" because the main building will remain as part of the new structure.
Many people used refer to this prestige shoe company affectionately as 'Zoony Green's' through the 1960's and 1970's. Fortunately the company is very much still with us, and is now in a new building, which is located at Crown Park, Rushden.
Note the items of factory plant which were used in the shoe trade; one is the dust extraction fan, and the other is a large metal storage tank.
On the adjoining site was the former Chapman's box factory on the corner of Allen Road and Cromwell road, Rushden. This was used more recently by SCA Packaging.
Original mains bed sprinkler water tank that replaced a natural spring fed water supply
that ran under the factory.
Head assembly of the dust extraction system
that was fitted in the 1960s.
