The Manor of Rushden with the members in the County of Northampton to wit: The Special Court Baron of our Most Gracious Sovereign Lady Queen Victoria Lady of the said Manor held at Rushden in and for the said Manor on Monday the twenty fourth day of June in the third year of Her Reign and in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine Before George BURNHAM Gentleman Steward of the said Manor

William BLOTT on the surrender of Richard STEVENS

At this Court it was found and presented by the Homage and attested by the said Steward that Richard STEVENS of Colleyweston in the County of Northampton Farmer a customary tenant of the said Manor by his surrender bearing date this present twenty fourth day of June One thousand eight hundred and thirty nine In consideration of the sum of two thousand two hundred and eighty pounds of lawful British money to him in hand therein mentioned to be paid by William BLOTT of Higham Ferrers  in the said County of Northampton Farmer did out of Court surrender by the rod into the hands of our most gracious Sovereign Lady Queen Victoria Lady of the said Manor by the hands and acceptance of the said Steward of the said Manor according to the custom thereof All that messuage tenement or farmhouse situate standing and being at the North end of Rushden aforesaid with the yards barns stables garden and homestead thereto adjoining and belonging containing together Three roods and thirteen perches (more or less) And also all that close of pasture land or ground adjoining the last described premises containing one acre two roods and twenty perches or thereabouts be the same more or less And also all that the scite or ground whereon a messuage or tenement formerly stood and a close of pasture ground adjoining the same situate lying and being in Rushden aforesaid then late John DENTON North and then late Thomas MALLERY South And also all that Pightle little close or orchard adjoining to and formerly belonging to the dwellinghouse then or theretofore of Thomas WARD in Rushden aforesaid And purchased of the said Thomas WARD by Richard STEVENS deceased (Grandfather of the said Richard STEVENS party thereto) And also all that ancient inclosure in the town of Rushden aforesaid bounded on the South by an old inclosure then formerly belonging to Samuel MEE upon the inclosure of Rushden exchanged with the said Richard STEVENS deceased and on the North by an old inclosure formerly belonging to John WRIGHT containing two roods and fourteen perches then late the property of Benjamin KIDNEY Esquire and by the Award of the Commissioners upon the said inclosure allotted to the said Richard STEVENS deceased in lieu of and in exchange for the third Copyhold allotment awarded to the said Richard STEVENS containing three roods and six perches which the Commissioners did assign award and appoint unto the said Benjamin KIDNEY for such exchange as aforesaid And also all that ancient inclosure adjoining to the farm homestead of the said Richard STEVENS deceased bounded on the South and North by the last described ancient inclosure containing two roods and twenty eight perches then late the property of the said Samuel MEE and by the said Award assigned awarded and appointed to the said Richard STEVENS deceased in lieu of and in exchange for the fourth Copyhold allotment awarded to the said Richard STEVENS deceased containing three roods and twenty six perches which the said Commissioners did assign award and appoint unto the said Samuel MEE for such exchange as aforesaid And also all that close piece or parcel of land or ground known by the name of the Clay Close situate lying and being in a certain field in Rushden aforesaid before the said inclosure called the Black Fen Field containing Nineteen acres and thirteen perches more or less bounded on the North by lands then late of --- --- PIERCE and then of --- --- --- on the West by the said Freehold close called Broadlands Close on the East by the next described close and on the South by lands late formerly of --- --- FOX and then or late of Thomas LAUGHTON And also all that close piece or parcel of land called or known by the name of the Hand Cross Close containing thirty three acres and sixteen perches or thereabouts be the same more or less adjoining and bounded by the last described Close on the West by the next described Close on the East by lands then late of the said --- --- PIERCE and then of --- --- --- on the North and by lands then late of --- --- FOX and then of --- --- --- on the South And also all that close piece or parcel of land or ground called or known by the name of the Far Close containing twenty six acres two roods and thirty one perches or thereabouts be the same more or less adjoining and bounded on the West by the last described close On the North East by the Lordship of Higham Ferrers On the South by lands then late of  --- --- HOOPER and then of Joseph KEEP Which said three last described closes of land or ground were allotted and awarded to the said Richard STEVENS deceased in three allotments pieces or parcels containing respectively one acre, fifty acres and twenty-nine acres three roods and eight perches And also all other the messuages or tenements lands hereditaments and premises (if any) of him the said Richard STEVENS (party thereto) situate within and held of the Manor of Rushden aforesaid (save and except a certain close formerly two closes called Towns End close and two closes of meadowland containing together thirty three acres more or less recently contracted to be sold by him to George BURNHAM Esquire) or howsoever otherwise the said hereditaments and premises these were or at any time theretofore held been called known or distinguished And to all which said hereditaments and premises the said Richard STEVENS (party thereto) was admitted tenant at a Court held in and for the said Manor of Rushden on or about the twenty sixth day of May one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven on the surrender of Bryan STEVENS and William TAILBY And all which said hereditaments thereby surrendered or intended so to be were then or then late were in the tenure or occupation of the said --- BLOTT under tenants or assigns together with all and singular houses outhouses edifices buildings barns stables yards gardens orchards ways paths passages privileges easements rights members and appurtenances whatsoever to the said hereditaments and premises thereby surrendered or intended so to be belonging or in anywise appertaining and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders yearly and other rent uses and profits thereof And also all the estate right title interest use trust property possession inheritance benefit claim and demand whatsoever both at law and in equity of him the said Richard STEVENS of in to or out of the said hereditaments and premises or any and every part thereof To the only proper and absolute use and behoof of him the said William BLOTT his heirs and assigns for ever according to the custom of the said Manor Now to this Court came the said William BLOTT in his own proper person and humbly prayed of the Lady of the said Manor to be admitted tenant to the premises aforesaid with the appurtenances To whom the Lady of the said Manor by her aforesaid Steward hath granted seisin thereof by the rod To have and to hold the said hereditaments and premises with the appurtenances unto the said William BLOTT his heirs and assigns for ever at the will of the Lady according to the custom of the said Manor by fealty suit of court fines rents and other customs and services anciently due and of right accustomed And for such his admission he hath given unto the Lady for a fine as appears in the margin And so saving always the right of the Lady and of all persons whomsoever she said William BLOTT was admitted tenant in manner aforesaid but his fealty was respited because &c……………
