The Manor of Rushden – to Wit The View of Frank Pledge with the Court Leet and Court Baron of our most Gracious Sovereign Lord King George the Third Lord of the said Manor at Rushden in and for the said Manor on Friday the ninth day of October in the Year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighteen Before Charles Havey Hodson Deputy Steward to Edward Bouverie Esquire Steward of the said Manor

To this Court came James Lovell of Rushden aforesaid Shoemaker and Ann his Wife (She the said Ann being a Customary Tenant of the said Manor and being first separately examined apart from her husband by the said Deputy Steward of the said Manor touching her consent to pass this surrender and thereunto freely and voluntarily consenting to and for and in consideration of the sum of Forty pounds of lawful money of Great Britain unto the said James Lovell in hand and by Thomas Church of Higham Ferrers in the said County of Northampton Glazier at or before the taking and passing of this surrender the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged Did in full and open Court surrender by the Rod into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor by the hands and acceptance of the said Deputy Steward according to the custom thereof All that Messuage Tenement or Dwellinghouse situate standing and being in Rushden aforesaid near to the North side of the Church sometime since in the tenure or occupation of Peter Sanders afterwards of Peter Cooper late of --- Cooper his widow and now of the said James Lovell Together with the Little Garden rights of road way and passage and all other the rights members privileges and appurtenances whatsoever to the said Messuage Tenement or Dwelling house belonging or in any wise appertaining And also all and singular other the premises with their and every of their appurtenances to which she the said Ann the wife of the said James Lovell (then late Ann Baker) was admitted Tenant at a Court holden in and for the said Manor on the twenty eighth day of March in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen as the Devisee in fee named in the Will of John Smith then late of Rushden aforesaid Yeoman deceased And the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents issues and profits thereof And all the Estate right title interest use trust possession benefit property claim and demand whatsoever of them the said James Lovell and Ann his Wife and each of them out of in or to the same premises and every or any part or parcel thereof To the only proper and absolute use and behoof of the said Thomas Church his heirs and assigns for ever according to the Custom of the said Manor Now To This Court came the said Thomas Church in his own proper person and humbly prayed of the Lord of the said manor to be admitted Tenant to the said Messuage Tenement or Dwelling house and premises with the appurtenances To whom the Lord of the said Manor by his aforesaid Deputy Steward hath granted seizin hereof by the rod To have and to hold the said messuage tenement or Dwelling house and premises with the appurtenances unto the said Thomas Church his heirs and assigns for ever at the Will of the Lord according to the custom of the said Manor by fealty suit of Court fines rents and other customs and services anciently due and of right accustomed And for such his admission he hath given unto the Lord for a fine as appears in the margin and so saving always the right of the Lord and of all persons whomsoever the said Thomas Church was admitted Tenant in manner aforesaid but his fealty was respited because &c.
