An Alarming Accident occurred on Saturday to Master Phillip Claridge, son of Mr. Chas. Claridge, of “Highbury,” Irchester-road. It appears that Master Claridge was cycling home with his father and sister, and when opposite the “Shine-Easy” Polish Works he was knocked down by an A.S.C. car driven by a member of the W.A.C.C. from Bedford. Master Claridge, we understand, was on his right side of the road, and the accident apparently occurred through the driver of the car travelling at too great a speed. The little boy, with his cycle, fell right under the car, but fortunately the driver was able to pull up smartly, and Master Claridge escaped with little injury beyond bruises and scratches. The cycle was slightly damaged. Assistance was rendered by P.C. Mattock. Enquiries on Tuesday elicited the information that Master Claridge was little the worse for his alarming experience.
