Brookfield Nursing Home

Brookfield was a maternity a home run by Nurse Ann (Nancy) Mather. At first she was at Brookfield House in Wellingborough Road. She left there, in 1932, and ran a mother and baby at The Old Rectory in Little Street, and renamed that as 'Brookfield Nursing Home'.

Nurse Mabel Goosey was a midwife at 8 Carnegie Street, and advertised in Kelly's Directory 1931 & 1936, although the County Council report on Maternity Homes tells she had no cases during these years.

Another Nurse Mary Ann Goosey was also a midwife.

When Nurse Mather left here about 1940, she took the position of Nurse at Wicksteed Park, where she remained until retirement.
