Dr. Herbert Stainer Baker

Herbert Stainer Baker—Church Street, Rushden; son of the late George Philip Baker, of Southsea; born at Southsea, December 25th, 1864; educated at Southsea, and Charing Cross Hospital; Member Royal College of Surgeons; Licentiate Royal College of Physicians. Late House Surgeon Charing Cross Hospital; Surg.-Captain 4th Vol. Batt. Northamptonshire Regiment; Hon. Surgeon to the St. John Ambulance Association; Medical Referee to several assurance societies; Member of the British Medical Association. Recreations: motoring, golf, tennis, and is a member of the Motor Union. Married, in 1897, Minnie, daughter of the late John Bond Body, of Plymouth, and has one daughter, Muriel, born April 10th, 1899.

Dr. H. S. Baker, LRCP Lond, MRCS Eng. Physician, surgeon, succeeded Dr. Morris as the Medical Officer of Health for Rushden in 1914.

He lived at 20 Church Street and continued here for about ten years.
