Rushden Echo, 25th April 1924, transcribed by Kay Collins
Riding on the same bicycle.....

Cycle Accident—Two youths, unwisely riding on the same bicycle, were injured through the machine breaking yesterday week. One young man was Reginald Mole, and the other was named Hubbard. They were at the corner of College-street and Duck-street, when the weight of the lad sitting on the crossbar caused the front wheel to double up. Both riders were pitched heavily to the ground and rendered unconscious through their heads striking the hard road. Mr C W Barker happened to be passing, and he summoned the assistance of Mr Raines and Mr C Lawrence, from the Gimson Shoe Machinery Company, and they and people from near-by cottages rendered first-aid. The injured youths were taken to Hubbard’s home, and Dr. Gillespie soon attended to them. In addition to suffering from concussion, the cyclists had nasty cuts and bruises. Happily, no bones were broken, and after a few days rest the youths had greatly recovered.
