The home, which can accommodate up to 67 residents and employs 40 people, opened in June but its owners wanted to make sure it was up and running before staging an opening ceremony.

After the event, residents and visitors were entertained by a harpist and children from Alfred Street Junior School in the town, who sang for them.

Director of operations for the home, Maeve O'Connor, said: "We have 24-hour nursing staff and we are applying for residential registration which would allow us to take more independent residents. As the home develops, we will be looking at increasing staff numbers."
