Edmond Tappe - Will 1600

Testamentum Edmond Tappe de Rushden

In the name of god Amen the second
day of March in Anno domini 1599 and in the two and fourtieth yeare
of the raygne of our sov[er]aigne Lady Elizabeth etc I Edmond
Tappe of Rushden in the Countie of North[amp]ton husbandman beinge
sicke in body by the visitation of god but yet in good and p[er]fect
memory god be praysed therefore doe make and ordayne this
my Testament wherein is contained my last will in manner
and forme followinge. First I give and bequeath my soule into the
handes of allmightie god etc. Item I give and bequeath to the
Church of Rushden xx d to be payd immediately after my decease
Item I give to the poore of Rushton iij s iiij d to be payd in like mann[er]
Item I give and bequeath unto Robt Tappe my second sonne x li
of good and lawful money of England and one Milch cowe
to be payd immediately after my decease Also I give to the same
Robt three quarters of barley to be payd him within three years
space every yeare one quarter next after my decease. Item I give to my
sonne Robt his wyfe three ewe sheepe and to Anne his daughter three
ewe sheepe to be delivered them within one quarter after my dep[ar]ture
Item I give and bequeath unto my sonne Willm Tappe twentie
nobles of currant English money towards the taking of him a living but if
he doe not p[ro]vide  himselfe of some livinge then my will is the same twentie
nobles shall not be payd him. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Agnes
that small portion of goods of myne which is in Edmond Negose his hand and herne
Item I give unto Elizabeth Peake the daughter of Richard Peake clerk
one browne bullocke and an ewe and a lambe to be deliv[er]ed her presently after my
decease. Item I give to ev[er]y one of my childrens children one sheepe to be delivered
to them within one yeare after my decease Item I give to my servants Robt Webb
and Edmond Mably eyther of them one sheepe and to my servant Ellen Williamson
one ewe and a lambe to be payd immediately after my decease. Item I give and bequeath
unto Ellen my wyfe x li of current English money and her keepinge and findinge
with my sonne John at his charge soe longe as she live and my sonne John
shall give and pay her xl s every yeare duringe her natuall life and also
I give the same Ellen all the goods in her parlour where she lie and one (ston)
of woll every yeare during her life further my will is that if my wyfe
and my sonne John cannot agree together but that she will not stay with him
then my will is that my sonne John shall give her iiij li a yeare duringe her lyfe
and one milch cowe to be kept of  his charge. Item I give to Ellen my wyfe
six flockes of bees and also I give to her every yeare duringe her lyfe halfe
a quarter of wheate. Item all the rest of my goods and chattels unbequeathed
I give and bequeath unto my son John Tappe whom I make my
whole exector to see my debts payd and all other expenses discharged. Item I
give unto my sonne John all my debts which are owinge unto me of all manner
of p[er]sons whatsoever witnesses to the same Thomas Margets senior
