Lewes Tapp 1680

In the name of God Amen August the one & twentieth, one
Thousand six hundred & eighty. I Lewes Tapp of Rushden in the
County of Northton. Yeoman, being sick & weake of body butt of
p’fect sense & remembrance God be praised doe make & ordaine
This my last will & testament in manner & forme following
First I bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God my
maker hoping asueredly through the meritorious death and
suffering of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to receive free
pardon & remission of all my ‘sinns’ and everlasting life, And my
body I bequeath unto the earth to be buried in Christian burial
according unto the discression of my Executors hereafter named
and as for that portion of worldly goods wherewith itt hath pleased
Allmighty God to make me an unworthy Steward of I give and
bequeath thereof as followeth
Impr. I doe hereby give and bequeath unto William Tapp my youngest
sonne the summe of one hundred & twenty pounds of lawful money
of England to be payed unto the said William by my sonne Lewes
Tapp when hee the said William Tapp shall accomplish the full age of
one & twenty years. Also I doe hereby give & bequeath unto my said
sonne William the one halfe of my howsehold goods (except the table
standing in the hall and the furnace & my biggest brasse pott)
Allsoe I doe hereby give & bequeath unto my eldest sonne Lewes Tapp all
the other half of my howshold goods as also those things before excepted.
And allsoe I doe hereby give & bequeath unto my said sonne Lewes all
the rest of my moveable goods & chattles whatsoever. Allsoe I doe hereby
make ordaine & appoint my brother William Tapp Clerk and my brother
Edmund Tapp and Thomas Peake Executors of this my last will and
Testament & my debts & funeral charges to be defraied out of the goods
aforesaid. Allso I give unto my said executors the sume of five shillings
apeece in some consideration for their care & trouble. And Lastly I doe
hereby revoke all other wills & testaments by me att any time heretofore
made. In wittnesse whereof I have herunto sett my hand and seale
the day & yeare first above written.
