In the name of god Amen I Robert Smythe of Rushden in the County of Northampton Junior being this present one and twenty day of September sick of body but of good and perfect memory blessed be the name of god do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following. First I bequeath and commend my soul into the hands of almighty god my maker hoping assuredly through the only merits of Jesus Christ my saviour to be made partaker of life everlasting and I commend my body to the earth whereof it is made.
Item I give and bequeath to my brother William Smythe all my freehold land and houses lying and being in Rushden and Higham Ferrers that is to say one cottage or tenement in Higham now in the tenure and occupation of Thomas Ashton and Mary Somes and one cottage or tenement now in the occupation of Peter Lennard and one acre of land lying in Gunsecks and one piece of meadow lying in Raunds meadow now in the tenure and occupation of John Gorge gentleman.
Also my will and purpose is to give and bequeath to the said my brother William that mortgage of nine roods of land of William Darnelie the surrender to be given from the said William Darnelie to my said brother William according to the custom of the manor or if he redeems the same mortgage that then the monies the sum of nine pounds shall be given and paid to my said brother William.
Item I give and bequeath to my brother Thomas Smythe the sum of twelve pence and to my brother Christopher Smythe the same sum of twelve pence to be paid them each in one quarter of a year after the day of my death.
Item I make my same said brother William the executor of this my last will and testament in witness whereof I set to my hand and seal.
