William Pemberton 1536

In the name of God Amen the 19th day of September In the year of Our Lord God 1536 I William PEMBERTON Esquire of Rushden in the county of Northampton of good memory and perfect remembrance fearing and dreading the uncertain hour of death ordain and make my last will and testament in form following that is to say First I bequeath my soul to Almighty God our Lady Saint Mary and to all the Holy Company of Heaven and my body to be buried in the parish church of Rushden aforesaid in the Chaple before our Lady of Pity Item I bequeath to the high altar there for my tithes forgotten 12d Item to the Mother Church of Lincoln 4d Item to our Lady’s light of Rushden 20d Item to the bells there 20d Item to the torches there 20d Item I bequeath to Sybil my wife a standing silver & guilt cup with a cover and six silver spoons with guilted adders heads Item I bequeath to my daughter Tomasin one similar silver spoon and a feather bed a bolster a pair of sheets a pair of blankets and a cover Item I bequeath to my son Robert double salt double guilt six silver spoons with guilted adders heads a feather bed a bolster a pair of sheets a pair of blankets and a square of Dormy & a tapestry counterpane which is in the great parlour my fox furred gown my worsted jacket and my gaberdine and a large chest standing in the great parlour Item I bequeath to my cousin Robert MACKWORTH my tawny coat Item I will and bequeath to Sybil my wife and Robert my son all my corn and crops of corn and hay and all my sheep and beasts to be evenly Divided between them Item I give and bequeath to my said son Robert all my horses and carts ploughs and plow gears and cart gears And the residue of my goods unbequeathed I give to Sybil my wife whom I make my sole Executrix to….. help and ….. my younger children and to dispose of the same as she thinks fit and I renounce all my former wills and affirm this to be my last will and testament In witness I have signed my name and put my seal on the day and year above written
