In the name of god amen the last day of November in the year of our lord god MCCCCCXLII (1542) I Thomas Pemberton of Rushden in County of Northampton Esquire sick in body & of perfect mind & good remembrance thanked be god & fearing the uncertain hour of death ordain & make my last will & testament in form following that is to say first I bequeath my sole to almighty god & my body to be buried in Holy sanctuary Item I Will & bequeath to my cousin Robert Pemberton all my plate except one silver salt which I bequeath to my cousin Sybell Pemberton Item I bequeath to my cousin Richard Pemberton 40s. Item to my cousin Thomas Pemberton 40s. Item to Joylon Watson 10£ Item to my cousin Henry Freeman 10s. & a coat of [fur?] of the best making Item to Sir William Smyth priest 5s Item to all my servants their wages & livery [*clothes] & to every of them one quarter wages more after my decease Item I will that a priest shall sing & pray for my soul & my friends souls by the space of 2 years next after my decease & he to have for his labour 10£ Item I give & bequeath to Rushden church my mace book & a cushion of cloth of tissue Item I bequeath to my god daughter Jane Pemberton my beds of coral & silver The residue of my goods & cattle in this my will not bequeathed I give & bequeath them to my cousin Robert Pemberton Whom I make & ordain my sole executor of this my present will Also I renounce and forsake all other will or wills by me afore this time made & affirm this to be my last will & testament in witness whereof I the said Thomas Pemberton have here subscribed my name given the day & year above written & also putt to my seal tunc ibedem & them present be Lord William Smyth curate Lord John chaplin William Slatear Richard Marshall George Dalten & Mr Henry Freman and also as witnesses.
