John Palmer - will 1684

In the Name of God Amen The Eleventh day of December in the Thirtie Sixth Yeare of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lord Charles the second of England Scotland France & Ireland King Defender of the Faith &c Anno Dni 1684 I John Palmer of Rushden in the County of Northampton husbandman being Weake of Body but of perfect memory & remembrance (blessed bee God) I doe make & ordaine this last Will & Testament in manner & forme following viz:

Imprimis I bequeath my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Maker hoping through the Death & Passion meritorious of Jesus Christ my Redeemer to receive free pardon & forgivenesse of all my Sinns And as for my Body to be buried in Xpian Buriall at the Discretion of my Executor hereafter mentioned And as for my Worldly goodes which God hath lent mee my Mind & Meaning is that the same be employed & bestowed as hereafter in & by this my Will is expressed

Item I give & bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Palmer One hundred pounds of good & lawful money of England to be paid unto her so soon as shee shall arrive or come to the age of One & Twentie Yeares

Item I give & bequeath unto my daughter Mary Palmer one hundred Pounds of like lawfull English money to be paid unto her so soon as she shall arrive & come to the Age of One & Twentie Yeares

Item I give & bequeath unto my daughter Ann Palmer one hundred Pounds of like lawfull English Moneyes to be paid unto her so soon as she shall arrive & come to the Age of One & Twentie Yeares

Item my Mind & Will is that Two hundred Pounds herein given & bequeathed unto my said Daughters Elizabeth & Mary Palmer be paid or putt into the hands of my Brother Samuel Palmer hereafter mentioned within twelve moneths after my deacease upon dondition that my said Bro Saml Palmer shall give upon receipt thereof sufficient security for the same to my Brother in law John Achurch for the use & behoof of my said Daughters Elizabeth & Mary Palmer

Item my Mind & Will is also that the one hundred Pounds herein given & bequeathed to my said Daughter Ann Palmer be paid unto or putt into the hands of my Brother in law John Achurch within twelve moneths after my deacease upon condition that my said Brother in law John Achurch shall give upon receipt thereof sufficient security for the same one hundred pounds to my Brother Saml Palmer for the onely use & behoof of my said Daughter Ann Palmer And my mind & intention is that the yearely Rent or Interest of or for all the said three hundred pounds at four pounds & tenn shillings percent by the yeare be paid at the end of every six moneths by equall & just portions unto my dear Wife Margaret Palmer during the time of her Widowhood but provided she be joined or given marriage to any man after my decease before my said Daughters or any of them or all of them come to the age of one & twentie yeares Then my mind & Will is that the said interest or yearly Rent immediately after my said Wifes Marriage become due & payable to my said Daughters respectively for their own proper use

Item my mind will & intention is that if any one or two of my said Daughters depart this life before she or they shall come to the age of one & twentie yeares that then the s’d Legacy or Legacies herein above bequeathed be equally divided between & paid unto the Survivers or Surviver And further if all these my three daughters shall depart this lefe before they come to the age of one & twentie yeares Then my mind & will is that one hundred Pounds of the herein bequeathed moneyes immediately after their said decease become due & be paid unto my said Wife & one hundred & fiftie Pounds of it to Samuel & Elizabeth Palmer the children of my Bro Saml Palmer respectively or to the surviver And the other fiftie Pounds to Mary & William Bayes the children of my Bro in law Willm Bayes proportionably or to the surviver

Item all the rest of my goods & Chattells herein unbequeathed I doe herein give & bequeath unto my said Dear Wife Margaret Palmer she paying my just debts & foresaid Legacies & funeral charges

Item I doe herein & hereby make ordain & appoint my s’d Dear Wife Margaret Palmer & my Bro Saml Palmer & my s’d Bro in law John Achurch joynt Executors of this my last Will & Testament revoking frustrating & making void all other Wills & Testaments whatsoever formerly by mee made In Witnesse whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal the day & yeare above written
