The test[ament] and last will of Thomas Negose of Rushden
In the name of god amen Ao dm 1557 the last daye of
Maye I Thomas Negose of Rushden hole of mynd
and p[er]fect rememberance but sumwhat syk in body feringe
the uncertey ou[r] of death make this my last will and test
in man[er] and forme following first I bequeath my sole
to almightie good my maker and redem[er] and my
body to be buried in the churche yard of Rushden
Item I bequeath to M[ar]gery my wyf xv xiiij cowples iij
kye and a bullocke ij weninge calfes a bald colt a
bay horse vj acres of corne that is to say v acres of
barlie and one acre of wheat iij acres of pece one
acre of otes with my cart. Item I geve and bequeath to Ric
Negose my father my sosorreled horse item I geve and
bequeath to John Lawnsburn my brother in lawe
my old sorelld horse Item I geve to (Dob)er tapp my
Syster Ma[r]geris sone a gy(fte) ewe Item I geve to June
my syster ij lamb hoggs The rest of my goods not
geven or bequeathed I geve to Ma[r]gery my wyf
whome I make my sole executrix to se my dets
paid and my body honestly brought to the ground
Also I make Ric Negose my father my sup[er]visor
to se this my last will and test p[er]formed These
bering witness Sr Willm Brayfeld p[ar]son of Rushden
and Ric Negose with John Lawnsburn
Probate although the details of probate are clear I cannot make out when it occurred. Usually it was soon after a will was made.
