John Miles 1664

In the name of god Amen I John Miles of Rushden in the County of Northampton being sicke in body but of perfect memory doe make and ordaine this my last will and testament as followeth First I bequeath my soule to Almightie god my Maker and my body to be decently buried in Christian burial And for my worldly goods as followeth First I give to Suzanna Rawlins the daughter of my brother Thomas Myles twenty pounds to be payd within on yeare after my decease Item I give to Thomas Rawlins her yonger Sonn fforty pounds to be paid when he shall come to ye age of one and twenty yeares Item I give to Elizabeth Leach one other daughter of my said brother twenty pounds likewise to be paid within one yeare after my decease Item I give to the said Elizabeth’s eldest daughter twenty pounds to be paid at the age of one and twenty yeares Item I give to Rose the wife of John Richards ffortie shillings Item I give to Ellen Plowright fforty shillings she beinge my first wifes sistere to be paid within one yeare after my decease Item I give to John Rawlins my heire one halfe headed bed, one chest to remayne in ye house, one cupboard, one table and three pewter dishes Item I give unto Robert Richards son of John Richards the sume of ffive pounds to be paid within one yeare after my decease Item all the rest of my goods and chattels I give unto Alice my wife whom I make sole executrix of this my last will and testament but not to dispose of any thinges until my legacies be paid, nor without the Approbation of my Overseers hereafter named. And lastly I desire John Richards and Thomas Smith to be overseers of this my last will and to see it duely performed In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this ffifteenth day of May 1660
