Joseph May 1668

In the name of God Amen I Joseph May senior of Rushden in the County of Northamton Yeoman doe Ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner & forme following
First I bequeath my soul into the hands of Allmighty God my Maker hoping through the meritorious death and Passion of Iesus Christ my only saviour and Redeemer to receive free pardon and forgivenesse of all my sins And I give my body to be buried at the discretion of my executrix hereafter mentioned and as for all my Worldly Goods in manner and form following in primis I give unto my daughter Richards one Feather bed Item I give unto Joseph May sonn of Joseph May Late deceased all those goods I lese upon the ground Late in the use of Joseph May his father that is to say, one Cupboard in ye kitchin one testur bed one square table with other Small Implements one Long Hovell in the yard one grinstone hanged in iron the Rack manger & plankes in the stable and the Cow tyings I allso give unto him the sum of twenty shillings Item I give unto Joseph May (son of Will. May) my Grandchild the sum of Twenty Shillings
Item I give unto Joseph Richards my grandchild the sum of Twenty Shillings Item I give unto Joseph Tapp my grandchild the sum of Twenty Shillings Item I give unto my Brother Thomas May Twenty Shillings as allso my best Hatt doublett briches jackett stockings and shoes and my Will is that each Legacy be payd imediately after my decease Item I give Twenty Shillings to Twenty poor familyes of Honest repute in ye Parrish of Rushden yt is to say one shilling to A family to be by Richard Rewse Clerke & Ezra Bates disposed of. Item all other of my Goods & Chattels Bonds & bills whatsoever I give unto my Grandchild Rebecca Tapp to pay my Legacies, debts & funerall charges and I doe make the said Rebecca Tapp Sole Executrix of this my Last Will & Testament revoking all other Wills Whatsoever in Witnesse Whereoff I have hereunto set to my hand and seal this 14th day of February in the yeare of our Lord 1664
