Joseph May 1664

In the Name of God Amen I Joseph May Junior of Rushden in the County of Northampton Yeoman doe ordaine this my last will and testament in manner & forme following being of perfect memory & remembrance first I bequeath my soule into the hands of Allmighty god my maker hopeing to be saved by the meritorious death & passion of Christ my Redeemer & I give my body to be buried at the discretion of my executrix hereafter named & I give my worldly goods as followeth . Imprimis I give to Thomas May my sonne twenty pounds to be payd the day of my wifes next marriage but if she remaine a widow then to be payd when he shall attaine to the age of one & twenty yeares.
Item I give unto Ann my daughter the like sum of twenty pounds to be payd in the like manner as unto Thomas.
Item I give to William my sonne twenty pounds to be payd as unto the other two & my will is that if any one of these 3 my children shall depart this life by death before theire portions become due his or her settlement shall be payd to the longest livers of them 3 vid Thomas Ann & Willy And my will is that if my executrix shall redeem & sell 2 parcels of lands & meadow surrendered unto Mr John Ekins & Mr Christopher Coles as an engagement for the payment of 100£ & the interest then the overplus & with the land can more be sold for be equally divided betwixt Ann my daughter & my sonne William & the longer liver of them two and I doe make Ann my wife sole executrix of this my last will & testament and doe give & bequeath unto Ann my wife all other of my goods & chattells whatsoever my debts being discharged & funeral expenses in witnesse whereof I have hereunto set to my hand & seale the fifth day of May in the yeare of our Lord 1664 and I make my brother Thomas Ekins and my Brother William May overseers of this my last will & testament.
