John May 1634

In the name of God Amen the xviij th day of December 1633 I John May of Rushden in the County of North’ husbandman beinge sicke of body
but of a perfect memory laude & praysed be god therefore do ordayne and make my Testament contayning therin my Last will in manor and fourme
following First I bequeath my soule to allmighty god my maker hoping assuredly through the only merits of Jesus Christ my saviour to be made
partaker of Life everlasting and my body to be buryed in the parish churchyard of Rushden as neare the body of Robert May my father
late deceased as conveniently it may

In primis I give and bequeath to ye repayration of they parish Church of Rushden x s Item I give and bequeath to the poore Inhabitants
of Rushden xl s Item I give unto Letice May my mother all my free hold land and medow with all they heryditaments and
apurtenances therto belonging during her naturall life and after the terme of hir naturall to Eliab May my brother his heires and
assignes for ever It[em] my will is that after the naturall life of Letice May my mother when the sayd Eliab May my brother
shall enter and be in quiet possession of all such freehold lands and medow and their Apurtenances then my true will and meaning
is that the said Eliab May my brother shall give yearly unto Samuel May my brother during the terme of his naturall life the
sume of x£ by even and equall portions that is to say at they feast of Thann[unciat]ion of our Lady Mary the Virgine and at they
feast of Michaell Tharkangell It[em] my will is that my Aunt Elizabeth Henshaw shall remayne live and dwell in the
now dwelling house of me they said John May and Letice May without any molestation disturbance or denyall of the sayd Letice
May or her assignes during the terme of they naturall life of the sayd Elizabeth Henshaw the sayd Letice May finding the said
Elizabeth Henshaw diet and other necessary thinges during the terme of hir naturall life It[em] I give unto my said Aunt
Elizabeth Henshaw xx s to be payd to hir when on[e] whole yeare next after my decease It[em] I give unto Henry Geary Alice
Okly and John Barey my servants iij s iiij d a peice if they be my servants when I depart this Life It[em] I give to Letice May
my mother my debts and funeral charges discharged my horse my catell my crop of grayne and all other goods and chattels whatsoever
or wheresoever whom I make my sole executrix of this my last will and testament It[em] I nominat and apoynt to be Supervisors
of this my will Robert Sandersson gent and James Peake In witnes hearof I have subscribed my name
