John May - will 1634

In the name of God Amen the 18 th day of December 1633 I John May of Rushden in the County of North’ton husbandman being sicke of body but of perfect memory laud & praise be given to God therefore doe ordaine to make my testament containing thearin my last will in mann[er] & forme following first I bequeath my soule to almighty God my maker hoping a_____ through the merits of Jesus Christ my saviour to be made partaker of life ev[er]lasting & my body to be buried in the parish church yard of Rushden as neare the body of Robert May my father late deceased as conveniently it may. Imprimis I give & bequeath towards the reparacon of the p[ar]ish church of Rushden ten shillings. Item I give & bequeath to the inhabitants of Rushden forty shillings Item I give unto Lettice May my mother all my fre hold land and meadow with all the heredita(ments) & appurtnances thereunto belonging during her n[at]rrall life & after the te____d of her n[at]rall)life to Elias May my brother his heires & assignes for ev[er] Item my will is that after the n[at]rall life of Elias Letice May my mother when the sayd Elias May my brother shall enter & be in (qui)et possession of all such free  holde lands & meadow & their appurtnances then my true will & meaning is that the said Elias May my brother shall give yearly unto _____ech my brother during the tearme of his (nat)rall life the summe of tenn pounds by even & equall porcones that is to say at ye feast of the annuncacon of the blessed virgin Mary and at the feast of St Michael the archangel Item my will is that my Aunt Eliz Henshaw shall remaine live & dwell in the (her) dwelling house of me the said John May. & Letice May (without any molestacon, disturbance or denial of the sayd Lettice May or her assignes during the time of the naturall life of the said Eliz: Henshaw the sayd Lettice May _ending the sayd Elizab: Hensha (dy et) & other neceseary things during the tearme of  her n(at)rall life Item I give to my sayd Aunt twenty shillings to be paid to her within one whole yeare next after my decease Item I give unto Henry Cary Alice Okely & John Barry my servants three shillings foure pence & peece if they be my servants when I dep[ar]t this life. Item I give to Lettice May my Mother my debts & funeral charges discharged my horse, cattell, cropp of graine & all other goods & chattell whatsoev[er] or wheresoever whom I make my sole executrix of this my last will & testament Item I nominate & appoint to be sup[er]visors of this my will Robt Saunderson gent & James Peake in witness hereof I have subscribed my name John May published in the p[resen]ce of Robert Sanderson & John Peake.
