December 11th 1649
In ye name of God Amen I Eliab May of Rushden in ye County of Northampton, yeoman, being sick & infirme of body but having my pfect sense & memory Blessed be God, doe make this my last will & testament in manner & forme as followeth. Imprimis I commit my soule into the hands of God my mercifall creatr. & my body to bee buried in the Church yard of Rushden in hope of a joyfull resurrection att the last day. Of all the [earth]ward estate wch god hath given mee I bequeath & dispose as followeth
Imprimis I will & bequeath to Nathaniel my eldest sonne 12 acres of free land & lay in a field together wth 15 hucathes [?] of meadow & Broughtons close hee paying out of it his brother Johns portion to whome I will & bequeath the sum of £50 to bee payed him by his abovesaid brother Nathaniel.
Item to my daughter Sarah May I will & bequeath £40 to bee payed her when she cometh to 21 years of age. Item I give unto her ye truss bed in the parlor wth the furniture belonging to it & one press & in case shee dyeth her portion to bee equally divided betwixt her two above mentioned brothers.
Item I give to my daughter Mary the sum of £50 to bee payed her whin shee cometh to the age of 21 years.
Item I give to my daughter Elizabeth May ye sum of £50 to bee payed her when shee cometh to ye age of 21 years and in case either of these two last mentioned dyeth I appoint yt the portion of the deceased bee given to the other surviving.
Item I give to my wife Mary the sum of £50 in lieu & consideration of the medow wch I once promised to give her.
Item I give to my sonne Theophilus [10] acres of land bought of Bunch.
Item all other my goods and chattels, lands & movabls unbequeathed I will & bequeath to my wife Mary, whome I constitute & appoint to bee sole executrix of this my last will & testament.
I doe also constitute & appoint Thomas [Greening] clr…[a space]…… & William Woolston to bee overseers of this my last will & testament in witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand & seale
