Nicholas Manning – will 1661

In the name of god amen I Nicholas Manninge of Rushden in the County of North’ton husband being sicke in body but of perfect mind & memory doe make and ordeyne this my last will and testament in manner & forme following First I Commend my soule into the hands of Almighty god my maker and my body to the earth And for my reall & personall estate I dispose of the same as followeth First I give & devise unto my loveing friends John Ekins of Rushden aforesaid gent & Thomas Smyth the younger of Rushden aforesaid yeoman and their heirs All that my freehold close in Rushden aforesaid adjoyneing to the cottage or tenement wherein I now dwell upon this speciall trust & confidence nevertheles that they or the survivor of them or the heires of the survivor of them will eyther convey the same to my sonne John Manninge and his heires or make sale of the same and dispose & imploy the moneyes which shall bee made by such sale to the use & benefitt of my said sonne according as they in their discretions & judgment shall thinke fitt Item I give & bequeath unto Frances my loveing wife all and singular my goods & chattels (my debts being thereout payd & funeral expences discharged) who I also make sole executrix of this my will In witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand & seale the seaventeenth day of August in the year of our Lord One thousand six hundred fifty & eight
