Robert Joyce - will 1604

In the name of god Amen the xxxth daie of maie Anno Dni 1604 I Robert Joyce of Rushden in the Countie of North’ton husbandman being sick in bodie but whole and perfect in mynde dow make and ordaine this my testament wherein is contayned my last will in manner and forme following First I bequeath my soule into the handes of almightie god my maker and Redeemer and my bodie to be buried within the churchyard of Rushden aforesaid Item I give and bequeath unto my eldest sonne John Joice iijs iiijd Item I give and bequeath unto my youngest sonne Richard Joyce one acre of barley and another of pease and halfe an acre of wheate and xls of money foure Ewes and lambes and one steare bullock to be delivered within one halfe yeare after my decease Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary one black Cowe two paire of sheetes and one bordcloth one towel one table napkin and the worser brasse pann and one ewe and a lambe to be delivered unto her within one halfe yeare after my departure and alsoe I give unto her one bedsteed one forme and two platters a porringer and a blanket one pillowe with the beare thereupon all to be delivered unto her at the tyme aforesaid Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Goodeth Joice one bedsteed which I lye upon and the fetherbedd upon it and two peare of sheetes one pillowe with a pillow beare one napkin and one bordcloth and one halfe of the greate pott and one kettle and one pewter Candlestick and two platters and one porringer and one greate redd coffer and one Cowe bullock and one buffet stoole and her mothers wedding smock and a forme to be delivered unto her within one halfe yeare after my decease Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Ellen one cubbord within the hall one redd coffer a Candlestick one redd Calfe and two paire of sheetes and one kettle and one pillowe and a boulster and halfe the brasse pott and one pann and two platters and a porringer one Towell one napkin one bordcloth one forme and a bedsteed to be delivered unto her within one halfe yeare after my departure Item I give unto my daughter Goodwyffe and my daughter Ellen one sheete and a pillowe beare to be devided equally betwixt them Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Francis one Ewe and a lambe and halfe a quarter of barley and unto John her sonne one lambe and unto her daughters xijd a peece to be delivered unto them within halfe a yeare after my decease Item I give and bequeath unto Alice my daughter one table in the hall and one stryke of barlie and one strike of pease and unto everie of her children xijd a peece and one Chamber pott all to be delivered unto them within one halfe yeare after my departure Item I give and bequeath unto Margaret my daughter xxs and one Towell and unto her children xijd a peece and unto her husband two bushels of Corne and the money which Clyfton oweth unto me all to be delivered unto them within one halfe yeare after my decease Item I give and bequeath unto my foure daughters Francis Marie Goodith and Ellen that xxs which Thomas Darlinge oweth unto me Item my will is that if my sonne Richard or my daughter Marie or Goodith or Ellen my daughters or anie of them doe depart this world before they have received their legacies given unto them then my will is further that the legacie of him or her soe departed shalbe devided equallie betwixt all the rest of the survivors Item all the rest of my goodes debts and chattels I give and bequeath to my sonne Henrie whom I make my whole Executor of this my last will to see my debts paied and all other funerall expences discharged and for my supervisor I make my sonne in lawe Clemente Chandler and for his paines therein to be taken I give him five shillings witnesses to the same Richard Peake Clarke Isaac Latymer
