Thomas Jeffrey - Will 1771

In the Name of God Amen I Thomas JEFFREY of Rushden in the County of Northampton yeoman being well in health and of Sound mind and Memory thanks be given unto God ~ But calling to mind the Mortality of my Body do make this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following: First of all I recommend my Soul into the hands of God that gave it hoping thro the merits of Christ to find Mercy. And as for my Body I recommend it to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the Discretion of my Executor herein after named – And as for such Worldly Estate where with it hath pleased God to bless me with I give and dispose of the same as follows – I give unto my beloved daughter Elizabeth SAUNDERS One Hundred pounds for and during the Term of her Natural Life and after her Decease. I give the said Hundred pounds to her son Thomas SAUNDERS his Heirs and Assigns forever. I give and bequeath unto my Grand Daughter Elizbaeth SANDERS Fifty pounds pounds after her Mothers Decease. I give all my Goods in my best Chamber unto my daughter Daughter Elizabeth SAUNDERS and also my Sheets and Table linnen. I give all my wearing apparrel unto my brother James JEFFREY except my Shirts them I give unto my Son John JEFFREY. All the rest of my Personal Estate unbequeathed my Money Chattels and all my moveables whatsoever and wheresoever I give unto my Son John JEFFREY he paying all my just Debts and funeral Charges out of it And I do Nominate Constitute make and Ordain my sd Son John JEFFREYS my only and Sole Executor of this my last Will & Testament and do ratifie and confirm this Sheet and no other to be my last Will & Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this Seventeenth day of December In the year of our Lord 1767.
