John Hills - Will 1688

In the name of God Amen September the fourteenth day one thousand six hundred eighty & seven. I John Hills of Rushden in the County of Northton. Cordwainer, being sick & weake of body butt of competent sense and remembrance God be praised doe make & ordaine this my last will & testament in manner & forme following first I bequeath my soule into the hands of Allmighty God my maker hopeing assuredly through the meritorious death & sufferings of my Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ to receive free pardon & remission of all my sins & life everlasting, & as for my body I committ the same to the earth to be buried in Christian burial according unto the discression of my executors hereafter named and as for that small portion of worldly goods where with itt hath pleased Allmighty God to make me an unworthy Steward of. I give thereof as followeth Impr. I doe hereby give & bequeath unto my mother Anne Hills the sume of tenn pounds of lawful money of England which said money is five pounds in my brother William Hills his hand allready the other five pounds in Henry Sanders his hands Item I give & bequeath unto my Aunt Dorothy Fowller the sume of five pounds of lawfull money which said money is in my brother William Hills his hand allredy Item I give & bequeath unto my brother William Hills the sume of tenn pounds of lawfull money of England which said moneyes is allredy in the hands of the said William. Item I give & bequeath unto my two cousens Sarah Hills & to Mary Hills the sume of five pounds apeece which said sume is allredy in the hands of my Brother William Hills to be paid out of that thirty pounds which was part of my brother Thomas his portion. Item I give & bequeath unto my cousen Mary Groome & to my Cousen Marth Groome the sume of five pounds apeece to be paid unto them the said Mary & Martha by my executors twelve months after my decease Item I doe hereby give & bequeath unto my cousen Thomas Marlling the sume of five pounds of good & lawful money of England to be paid unto him the said Thomas twelve months after my decease by my executors hereafter named. Item I give unto William Craddock the sume of tenn shillings to be paid unto him the said William six months after my decease. I give unto my sister Mary & to my sister Martha the sume of tenn shillings apeece six months after my decease to be paid to the said Mary & Martha Item I doe hereby give & bequeath unto my brother Thomas Groome & to my Brother Edward Marlling all the rest of my moveable goods & chattles what soe ever whom I doe make my sole executors of this my last will & Testament revoking all other wills & testaments what soever whereof in witness I the said John Hills have hereunto sett my hand & seale the day & yeare above written.
