In the name of god Amen, I William Gurrey of Rushden beinge sicke in body but whole in minde this present 23rd of February 1598 make and ordain this my last will and testament in forme and manner following. First I bequeath my soule unto the handes of Allmightie God my maker and redeemer and my body to be buried in the Churchyard of Rushden. Item I give unto Nicholas my second sonne the fiftie shillings which my sonne Richard oweth me. Item I give unto Christopher my third sonne one heifer. Item I give unto Alice my daughter two (beasse) which came from my sonn Richard. Item I give unto Alice my daughter my bedsted and all the bedding belonging to it and one brasse pot one brasse pann one spit which…the biggest one barrell two platters…Item I give unto Agnes Gurrey my sonne William’s daughter my cubboard and my hillinge which is in my sonne Richard’s halle. Item I give unto my sonne Christopher my best table and one forme.
