William Godewyn - 1553

The testament of Willm Godewyn of Rushden

In the name of god Amen the xvij day of Novembre in the yere of our lord god M ccccc lij I Wyllm godwyn of
Rusheden in the countye of Northampton husbandman beyng hole of mynd & p[er]fect of remembraunce thanked be god
do make my last wyll & testament in man[ner] & forme folowyng first I bequeath my sowle to god almighty my body to be
buryed in the church yard of Rushden before named. Item I do geve & bequeath to Elizabeth (garry) my dawht[er] xx ewes
one quart[er] of malt one quart[er] of barley & one cowe and all the same to be delyv[er]ed unto her or her assignes
at ester next ensuing after the date herof. Item I do geve & bequeath unto ev[er]y one of my god children iiij d Item I do geve
& bequeath to Hugh Huet my S[er]v[a]nt one ewe & ij hoggrels with all the encrease & p[ro]fyt of the same from henceforth
Item I do geve & bequeath to Elyzabeth my wyffe & to her assignes during her naturall lyfe all my messuage that I do dwell yn
& all the landes & tenements medowes leasures clousures & pastures with all & singular ther appurtenances __to belonging
late Rychard basses lying & being devyded in the towne felds & medowes of Rusheden aforesaid. And all my __est
ryghte & title that I  have & of right owght to have in the same. And after the decesse of the sayd Elyzabeth my wyffe
I wyll that the sayd messuage & all other the p[re]myses thereunto belonging shall remayne unto Robert Saunderson
of Hyham Ferrers & to Wyllm Margetts brother to the sayd Elyzabeth my wyffe & to there heyres and assignes
for ever. Item I do geve & bequeath to the sayd Elizabeth my wyffe & to her heyres & assignes for ev[er] three acres
& a halfe of arable land of customary hold lyng devyded in the felds of Rusheden which I late had of
the surrender of Christopher Pe[m]b[er]ton gent decessed Item I do geve & bequeath to the sayd Elyzabeth my wyffe to hyr
heyres & assignes for ev[er] one acre & a halffe of arable land of customary hold divided in the felds of
Rusheden aforesaid which I late had of the surrender of John Bernard decessed of the which messuage
all other the premises thereunto belonging before named I have made surrender into the hands of John
Wedon to the use & behaffe of aforesaid at the making & declaracon of thys my sayd last wyll and
testament. The resydew of all my goods & cattaylls & my detts owing to me I do geve & bequeath to the
sayd Elyzabeth my wyffe whom I do make my sole executrix of this my last wyll theyse men beryng
