Moses Gobby 1754

In the Name of God Amen I Moses Gobby of Rushden in ye County of Northampton Yeoman being in health of body and of sound disposing Minde and Memory Bles[s]ed be God, do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following First I recommend my Soul to Almighty God my Creator hopeing to be saved through the Meritts of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and my body I committ to ye ground to be buried at ye discretion of my Executrix hereafter Named without little Expence as decency will admitt of And for ye Estate Whereof it hath pleased Almighty God to bless me with I dispose thereof as followeth I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Mays the sum of five pounds I also give to my grandson Thos Eden all that parcel of land late John Barkers being by Estimation Twenty four acres more or less and allso all that Nine swaths and one draught of Medow ground with all and every of their Appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appert[ain]ing, to him and ^his heirs and Assigns for ever according to ye Custome of ye Mannor of Rushden I likewise give and bequeath to my daughter Eliz; Sanders part of that land late Mackernis’s, during her Natural life or after her decease, then to my Grandson John Eden to him and his heirs and Assigns for ever according to ye Custome of ye Mannor of Rushden the other part I give to my daughter Ann French, Namely one acre upon Grandloe one acre upon Wattland on(e) acre upon Redsands one acre upon Galley hill one ley next to Blowsick all but one and alsoe all those Six acres of arrable land more or less, and six swaths of medow ground more or less lying and being in ye feilds and Medow of Rushden With all and every of their Ap(p)urtena(n)ces thereunto belonging or in any wise Appertaining and allsoe a Freehold house in ye Middle of the town next ye Churchyard with an Orchard and Close thereunto adjoyning with all and each of their Appurtenances theireunto belonging or any wise Apertaini(n)g now in ye occupation of Thos Fissher during her natural life and after her decease (if she hath no son) then the said house to my grand daughter Ann French, and the land and medow ground to my grand daughter Mary French I likewise give to my grand daughter Ann French the bedstead and the furniture belonging to it, as Hannah Eden lyes in, the folding Table one barrel and the great pottage pott. The residue and remainder of my Personal Estate I give and bequeath to my grand daughter Hannah Eden (She paying all my just debts --------------------------------------------) whome I make sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament. In Wittness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand [and] seal the twelfe day of June in the year of our Lord 1750
