John Darnely - will 1721

In the Name of God Amen the Twelf day of October in ye year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & Twenty one I John Darnely of Rushden in ye County of Northampton yeoman being weak in body but of sound mind & memory thanks be to God do make & ordain this my Last Will & Testament in manner & form following Imprimis I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Sibil Darnely all my movable Houshold goods that is to say all my brass pewter Tubs Barrills Linin & woollen & all other Implements of Houshold things Excepting the Bedsted & beding in the parlow and one Cupbord that stands in the wall in ye house Item my will is that my Executor hereafter named shall pay or cause to be paid to my beloved wife the sum of foure pounds a year of good & lawfull money of Great Brittain as long as she liveth and also one load of fiering every year worth fifteen shillins & foure Bushill of Wheat every year during her life Item I give & bequeath to my two daughters Mary & Susana Darnely the sum of Twenty five pounds a peece to be paid within Twelve months after my decease if it so happen that either of them shall die before twelve months be expired their part shall go to ye survivor of them And Whereas I have made a surrender Whereby I have surrendered into ye hands of ye Lord of ye Manor of Rushden by ye hands of William French & John Wollaston two other Customary Tenants of ye said Manor all that my Messuage with ye Close & Orchard and paying to ye same lyeing & being in ye north end of Rushden & also all those my seven & twenty acres & a half of arable Lands & lay ground and four swathes and five draughts of Meadow ground lying & being dispercially divided in ye fields & meadows of Rushden my will is that the said premises so surrendered shall be to the use & behoof of my sonn John Darnely & of his heirs for ever according to ye Custom of ye Mannor of Rushden he paying out of the same the Legacies above named Item I give to my said son John Darnely my freehold Close of pasture ground in Rushden aforesaid to him & his heirs for ever Item I also give to my said son John Darnely whome I make sole Executor of this my last will and Testament All & singular the stock & scrap and all Implements belonging to Husbandry and above …. … …. He paying my just debts & funeral Charges and I do hereby make void all other wills ratifying this to be my last Will & Testament in witness whereof I have set my hand and seall ye day & year above written
