Henry Clarke - Will 1628

Henrici Clarke

In the name of God Amen the three and twentieth
daie of February 1627 I Henry Clarke of Rushden in the countie of
Northampton carpenter being sicke in bodie but of a good and perfect
memory praised be god for the same doe ordaine and make my will
containing herein my last will and testament in manner and
forme following. First I bequeath my soule to Almyghtie god my
creator and redeemer and my bodie to be buried in the parish church
yard of Rushden. Item I give unto Mary Clarke my wife all that my
freehold land, with the appurtenances lying devided within the
fields of Rushden for and during the terme of eight yeares next
after my decease and after the terme of eight yeeres to Richard
Clarke my eldest sonne and heire and to his heires for ever. Item I give unto
Richard Clarke my eldest sonne all my apparel and alsoe all my
working tooles and ymplements belonging to my trade Item my will is that
my sonne Richard Clarke shall give unto Mary Clarke my eldest
daughter fortie shillings at the one and twentieth yeer of her age Item
my will is that my sonne Richard Clarke shall give unto Sara
Clarke my yongest daughter three pound at the one and twentieth
yeere of her age. Item my will is that my sonne Richard Clarke
shall give unto John Clarke my yongest sonne fower pound at the
one and twentieth yeere of his age Item my will is that my sonne
Richard Clarke shall give unto my sonne Henry Clarke fortie
shillings at the fower and twentieth yeere of his age. Item my will
is that my sonne Richard Clarke shall take to him selfe apprentice
John Clarke my yongest sonne to instruct and learne him in the
trade of a carpenter when he shalbe capable of the same and of
yeeres of discretion to learne it, or if my said sonne shalbe unwilling
to learne the said trade of a carpenter and desirous of some other
trade then my will is that my sonne Richard Clarke shall give unto
my sonne John Clarke fortie shillings towards the binding apprentice
of him to some other trade that he then best affortith. Item my
will is that my executrix shall pay unto Henry Clarke my second sonne
fortie shillings at the fower and twentieth yere of his age. Item my will
is that if anie of my Children that my sonne Richard Clarke shall give theire
porcons unto shall departe this naturall life before the tyme __ fixed
and se_do___, then my will is that theire porcons shalbe equally divided
amongst those children that shall at that tyme be living. Item my
will is that if my executrix shall departe this naturall life before
she shall have paid that legacie or gift that I have bequeathed unto
Henry Clarke my second sonne, due to him the fower and twentieth
yeare of his age then my will is that my sonne Richard Clarke shall
paie unto my said sonne Henry Clarke the said summe of fortie shillings
at the xxiiij yeere of his age, Item all other things unbequethed and
ungiven I give unto Mary Clarke my wife whom I make
sole exectutrix of this my last will and testament further I
nominate appointe to be overseers of this my last will & testament
