John Campion 1605

In the name of God amen the five and twentieth day of July in Anno Domini one thousand six hundred and three and in the year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord James by the grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland King defender of the faith &c I John Campion of Rushden in the County of Northampton yeoman being sick in body by the visitation of God but yet in good and perfect memory God be praised therefore do make and ordain this my testament wherein is contained my last will in manner and form following first I give and bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God my heavenly father Item I give and bequeath to the church of Rushden ten shillings Item I give and bequeath to the repair of the bells ten shillings to be paid within three months after my decease Item I give to the poor of Rushden ten shillings to be paid them at the discretion of mine Executrix Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Marie one hundred marks of good and lawful English money to be paid her when she shall come to the full age of eighteen years Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth one hundred marks of good and lawful money of England to be paid to her when she shall come to the full age of eighteen years. Item I give and bequeath to my brother Thomas Campion his children every one of them two ewe sheep a piece of the second sort to be paid them within one month next after my decease Item I give to William Campion his three children either of them one ewe sheep a piece to be paid to them within one month after my departure Item I give unto every of my servants one lamb a piece Item I give to John Curtis the son of William Curtis one ewe sheep Item I give and bequeath all my freehold lands and tenements in Leighton Buzzard to Joan my wife for term of her life and after her decease to my two daughters to be parted equally between them Item all the rest of my goods and chattels unbequeathed I give and bequeath to Joan my wife whom I make my sole Executrix of this my testament to see my debts paid and all other funeral expenses discharged and for my supervisor I make my very [good] friend John Tapp and all other wills I utterly revoke and will that this shall stand and no other nor otherwise witness to the same Francis Bates Oliver Lattimer.
