Philip Bayley 1724 Will

In the name of God amen I Phillip Bayley of Rushden in the county of Northampton mason being infirm in body but of sound disposing mind and memory praise be God do make this my last will and testament in manner and form following first I recommend my soul to God almighty my creator trusting to be saved through the merits and intercession of my saviour Jesus Christ my body I desire may be decently buried by my executrixes thereafter named: And as for my estate and wordly goods wherewith it shall pleased God to bless me
I dispose of them in manner following
I give and devise to my beloved wife Lidia and to my daughter Lidia to be held and disposed jointly by them during the form that they both shall live and after the decease of one of them, I do give and devise wholly to the survivor of them th for heirs and assigns for ever, Four acres of land lying in the fields of Rushden, to wit, one acre in longfield purchased of Jacob Clark and also two acres lying in longfield consisting of three lands, on longdale furling and two lands on short Pottelon, and another in Brookfield, Consisting of two lands at Spittleharden, which said three acres were purchased of John Gill of London all the rest of my lands tenements and heriditaments I do give and devise to my son Phillip Bayley his heirs and assigns for ever
As to my personal estate as stock goods of what kind soever ready money etc. I give to my loving wife Lydia Bayley and to my daughter Lydia Bayley whom I appoint my executrixes. Of this my last will and testament,in witness thereof I have here unto set my hand and seals this twenty second day of February in the eleventh year of the reign of our sovereign Lord King George and in the year of our Lord 1723.

Signed Sealed published and declared to be my last will and testament in the presence of us our names as witnesses in presence of the testator
