William Bayes - 1716 will

In the name of God Amen the [twenty] third day of November one thousand seven hundred and fifteen I William Bayes of Rushden in the County of North’ton Carpenter being very sick of Body but of perfect mind and [memory] thanks be given to God for the same do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say
Imprimis I give and bequeath to my Brother Nathaniel Bayes the sum of five pounds of good and lawful money of Great Brittain to be paid by my Executor hereafter mentioned
Item I give to my said Brother Nathaniel Bayes my best suit of Cloths and the suit which I wear every day with my Hatts stockings and shoes and all my Carpenters tools in the shop
And whereas I have made a surrender bearing date with this my Will whereby I surrender into the hands of his Majestie King George Lord of the Mannor of Rushden by the hands of Joseph May and John Wollaston to other Customary tennants of the said Mannor all that my Messuages or Tennements with the Barns stable out houses Orchard and Close of Pasture ground adjoining to the same with the appurtenances thereunto belonging being Bondhold lying and being in the North end of Rushden Joseph Wapple and Fran Bates on the North Tho Groom on the South part thereof and alsoe a little Close of Pasture ground lying in the Northend of Rushden Joseph May South and John Cooper North being Bondhold And alsoe all those my three acres of arrable Land lying and being dispersed in the fields of Rushden aforesaid being Bondhold with all and each of their appurtenances to the use and behoof of my daughter Mary Bayes to be injoyed by Coppy of Court Roll by her and her Heirs and assigns for ever according to the Custom of the said Mannor
Item I give to my said daughter Mary Bayes all my freehold land and medow ground lying and being in the fields and Medow of Rushden aforesaid to her and her Heirs and assings forever
Item I alsoe give to my said daughter Mary Bayes all my Good and Chattels whatsoever (exempting what is before given) by her freely to be possessed and injoyed but in case my said daughter dy before She is capable of Chusing herself a Guardian then so much of my goods and Chattels that remain I give one half to my Brother Nathaniel Bayes and the other half to my wifes sister Elizabeth Ray living at Founess in Essex near Lee
Item I appoint and Constitute make and ordain John Wollaston junr of Rushden in the County of North’ton Taylor sole Executor in trust of this my last Will and Testament And I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all other Testaments and Wills by me in any ways before made Confirming this and no other to be my last will and Testament In Witnesswhereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written
