William Bayes - Will 1688

In the name of God Amen August the twentieth day one thousand sixhundred eighty & eight I William Bayes senr of Rushden in the County of North'ton mason being sick & weake of body butt of p’fect sense & remembrance God be praised doe make & ordaine this my last will & testament in maner & forme following first I bequeath my Soul into the hands of Allmighty God my maker hoping assuredly through the meritorious death & suffering of my Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ to receive free pardon & remission of all my sins & life everlasting & as for my body I commit the same to the earth to be buried in Christian burial according unto the discression of my executor hereafter named and as for that small portion of worldlygoods wherewith itt hath pleased Allmighty God to make me an unworthy Steward of I give thereof as followeth Imprimus I doe hereby give & bequeath unto my Sonne William Bayes the sume of five pounds of good & lawful money of England to be payed unto the said William immediately after my decease which said five pounds the said William Bayes shall pay my sone James Sawyer toward my daughter Sarah Sawyer’s portion. Allsoe I give unto my sone William Bayes one cow & all my hay & halfe my wearing Apparell & one Barr of Iron Item I give & bequeath unto my daughter Catherine Bossingham the sume of twelve pence to be payed unto her the said Catherine six months after my decease Item I give unto my daughter Mary Dickins all my bees Item I give & bequeath unto my sone Samuel Dickins the other halfe of my wearing apparell Item I giveunto my daughter Sarah Sawyer the sume of twelve pence to be payed to the said Sarah six months after my decease Item I give unto my grand daughter Anne Bossingham the sume of forty Shillings of good & lawful money of England to be payed unto the said Anne When she shall attaine unto the age of one & twenty years & all my moveable howsehold goods Item I give unto my grand daughter Mary Dickins the sume of fourty shillings of lawful money of England to be payed unto her the said Mary when she shall attaine unto the full age of fourteen yeares butt if the said Mary shall depart this life before shee is fourteen yeares of age the aforementioned fourty shillings to be equally divided to her Brothers Allso I give to the said Mary one pewter platter & one reell Item I give unto my grand Daughter Mary Bayes the sume of fourty shillings money to be payed unto her att the age of fourteen years but if she doe not live till that age the said moneyes shall returne to her Brothers & Sisters Item I give unto my grand daughter Deborah Sawyer the sume of twenty shillings of lawful money to be payed unto her the said Deborah when shee shall attaine unto the age of fourteen years but upon condition the said Deborah shall die before that shee come to fourteen yeares of age the said twenty shillings shall be payed unto her sister Sarah Sawyer by my executor Item I give & bequeath unto my granddaughter Elizabeth Makernesse the sume of twenty shillings of lawful money Item I give & bequeath unto my Sonne Thomas Makernesse all the rest of moveable goods & moneys whatsoever whom I make & ordaine my sole executor of this my last will & testament upon condition that he shall pay all my money legacies whatsoever & that I doe revoke all other wills & testaments heretofore made att any time in witnesse whereof I the said William Bayes have here unto sett my hand & seal the day & yeare above written
