In the name of God Amen December the eight & twentyth one
Thousand six hundred eighty one I Mary Bates of Rushden in the County
of Northton. widow, being in reasonable good health of body and of sound
& p’fect mind and memory praised be therefore given to Allmighty
God doe make & ordaine this my present last will & testament in manner
& forme following first & principally I commend my soul into the hands
of Allmighty God hopeing therough death & passion of my saviour
Jesus Christ to have full & free pardon & forgiveness of all my sins and
To inherit everlasting life & my body I commit to the earth & to be decently
buried att the discression of my executrix hereafter named and as
touching the disposition of all such temporal estate as itt hath pleased
Allmighty God to bestow upon me I give & dispose thereof as followeth
First I will that my debts & funerall charges shall be paid & discharged
Item I doe hereby give to Hannah Brine, wife of Josiah Brine my
Daughter the sume of twelve pence to be payed unto her the said
Hannah within one month after my decease by my executrix hereafter
Named. Allsoe I doe hereby give & bequeath unto my daughter Sarah
Sibthorpe wife of Richard Sibthorpe the like sume of twelve pence
to be payed unto her within one month after my decease. Allsoe I doe
hereby give & bequeath unto my sonne Francis Bates the like sume
of twelve pence to be payed unto him by my executrix hereafter named
within one month after my decease. Allsoe all the rest of my moveable
goods and chattles whatsoever my debts & funeral charges beingfirst
discharged I doe hereby give & bequeath unto my daughter Susanna
Bates whom I make sole executrix of this my last will and testament
And I do hereby null revoke & make void all former wills & testaments by
me att any time heretofore made. In witness whereof I the said
Mary Bates have hereunto sett my hand and seale the day & year first
above written.
