William Barrey - will 1601

Testamentum Wm Barrey de Rushden

In the name of god Amen the eight daie of Februarie
in Anno Dm 1600 accordinge to the computacion of the Church of England
I Willm Barrey of Rushden in the countie of Northampton husband[man]
being sicke in body by the visitacion of god but yet in perfect memorie
God be praysed therefore doe make and ordaine this my testament
wherein is contained my last will in manner and forme followinge
first I give and bequeath my soule into the hands of allmightie god.
Item I give to the church of Rushden viiij s iiij d to be paid at St Michaell
next. Item I give and bequeath to my brother George Barrey x li
of lawfull English money to be paide him at St Michaell tharchangell
which shallbe in the yeare of our lord god 1602. Item I give and
bequeath to Elizabeth my Sister v li of Currant English money
to be paid her at the feast of St John Baptist which shalbe in the yeare of
our lord 1602. Item I give and bequeath to my Sister Ellin v li to be paid her
the first daie of Maie which shalbe in Anno dm 1602. Item I give to Robt
Blackwell the sonne of Nicholas Blackwell xx s to be paid him at St Michaell
next after my departure. Item I give to my two servants Thomas
Gybons and Susan Woodward eyther of them xx s to be paid them at
St Michaell next after my departure. Item I give to my brother
Richard five horses two carts and all the carte geares my plowe and all
my plowe geares and carte timber and plow timber a pen two coffers
two (F)atts to enter of them at St Michell next ensyuinge. Item I give and bequeath
to Ellin Barrey the daughter of Thomas Barrey xx s to be paid her at
St Michaell next ensuinge the date above written. Item all the rest of my goods
debts and chattels unbequeathed I give and bequeath to Bridget my wife whom
I make my whole executrix of this my last will and testament to see my debts
paide and all other funeral expenses discharged and for my supervisors I make my
verie good friends Henrie Hall & George Geby and I give to eyther of
them iij s iiij d a peece for their paines therein to be taken. Witness to the
same Henry Hall, George Gobie, James Stasey, Oliver Latimer.
