John Baker - will 1815

This is the last Will and Testament of me John Baker of Rushden in the County of Northampton Grocer which I do make publish and declare as follows (that is to say) First I direct that all my just Debts and funeral and testamentary expenses shall be fully paid and satisfied by my Executrix hereinafter named

I give and devise unto my dear wife Ann Baker all those my copyhold messuages or tenements and premises situate at Rushden aforesaid now in the occupations of myself and William Gilbert And all other my real Estate whatsoever situate at Rushden aforesaid or elsewhere To hold the same and every part thereof unto and to the use of my said wife Ann Baker her heirs and assigns for ever Subject nevertheless to the proviso hereinafter contained (that is to say) Provided always and my will is that in case my said wife shall not sell and convey the said messuages or tenements and real estate hereinafter devised to her (which I do recommend her not to do unless she feels necessitated) then I do hereby give and devise the said messuages or tenements and real estate (or so much and such part and parts thereof as shall not be so sold and conveyed) from and after the decease of her my said wife (Subject nevertheless and without prejudice to any mortgage or mortgages charge or charges of the said premises which may be made by me or my said wife) unto Charlotte Goodwin Spinster, who now lives with me and to her heirs and assigns for ever And as to all my monies and securities for money household goods and furniture plate linen and china stock in trade and all other my personal estate and effects whatsoever and where soever and of what nature or kind soever the same shall or may consist at the time of my decease I do hereby give and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto my said wife Ann Baker to and for her own use and benefit she paying thereout all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses And I do hereby nominate and appoint my said wife Sole Executrix of this my last will and testament and lastly hereby revoking and making void all former and other wills and codicils by me at any time hereafter made I do declare this present writing to be and contain my only true last will and testament In witness whereof I the said John Baker the Testator have to this my last will and testament set my hand and seal this nineteenth day of July in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifteen

On the 30th day of April 1821 Ann Baker the sole Executrix named in the within Will was then sworn well and faithfully to fulfil the same according to Law and that the Goods Chattels and Credits of the within named Deceased, do not amount in value to the sum of one hundred pounds
