(red seal affixed in top left corner of page) Will of Samuel ACHURCH, dated 2nd of Jul 1775

This is the last Will and Testament of Me Samuel ACHURCH of Rushden in the County of Northampton Farmer as follows (that is to say) in the first I Give Devise and Bequeath unto my Son William ACHURCH of Rushden aforesaid Glover All that my House and Homestead and Orchard Situate in Rushden aforesaid and now in the Occupation of the said William ACHURCH Together with all those three Acres of Land lying and being Dispersedly in the fields of Rushden aforesaid for and During the Term of his Natural Life and from and after his Decease Then I Give and Devise the same to Ann his Wife for and during the Term of her Life and from and after her Decease Then I Give Devise and Bequeath the same unto my Grandson Son of the said William ACHURCH and to his Heirs and Assigns for Ever Item I Give to my Son Samuel ACHURCH of Eynsbury in the County of Huntingdon Farmer the Sum of One Hundred and Fifty Pounds upon this Special Trust and Confidence That he puts the same out at Interest in his own Name upon some Government Security or upon any other Good and Sufficient Security or Securities so as the best Annual Interest be made thereof and with the Interest arising therefrom to Pay and Apply the same Interest to my said Son William ACHURCH for and During the Term of his Natural Life and from and after his Decease Then upon this further Trust to Pay the said Interest and Produce thereof unto my Grandson William ACHURCH Son of the aforesaid William ACHURCH for and During so long time and until he shall Attain the Age of Twenty One Years And when my said Grandson William ACHURCH shall so Attain to his Age of Twenty one Years Then I Give and Bequeath the said Principal Sum of One Hundred and fifty Pounds And all Interest that shall be Due thereon unto my said Grandson William ACHURCH Absolutely and to his Heirs for Ever And I Order Will and Direct that my said Son Samuel ACHURCH shall pay the same Accordingly The said William ACHURCH giving the said Samuel ACHURCH a Good and Sufficient Discharge on the Due Payment of the same Item I Also Give and Bequeath to my said Son Samuel ACHURCH the Sum of Forty Pounds Item I Give and Bequeath unto my Son Robert ACHURCH of Saint Neots in the said County of Huntingdon Farmer the Sum of One Hundred Pounds Item I Give unto my Son Thomas ACHURCH of Graffham in the said County of Huntingdon Farmer the Sum of One Hundred and Fifty Pounds And I Order will and Direct my Executor herein after Named to Pay all the aforesaid Legacies within twelve Months next after my Decease Item I Give to my Daughter Jane ACHURCH who now Lives with me the Sum of Two Hundred and Fifty Pounds to be paid her within Six Months next after my Decease And to Receive Interest for the same at Four Pounds Per Centum Per Annum for the same from the Day of my Decease until the same Sum be paid by my Executor herein after Named Item All my Household – Goods and Household - Stuff and Furniture of all Sorts I Give to my Wife Jane ACHURCH and to my said Daughter Jane ACHURCH for and During their Joint Lives and to the Life of the Survivor of them for Ever And I Order and Direct that a True and Perfect Inventory may be Taken of the same as soon after my Decease as Possible may be to Prevent the same from being Wasted and to the Intent that such Survivor may the better be Enabled to Claim the same Item I Give to my said Wife Jane ACHURCH One Annuity or Yearly Sum of Ten Pounds Clear of all Taxes and Deductions whatsoever to be paid by my Executor herein after Named by form Equal Quarterly Payments ^ (‘in’, inserted above) the year (that is to say) The first payment thereof to be made within three Months next after my Decease And I also Charge all my Real and Personal Estate which I shall hereafter Give to my said Executor with the Due Payment of the same Item all other my Real and Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what Nature kind or Sort soever the same may or do Consist of at the Time of my Decease and not herein before Given and Disposed of I Give Devise and Bequeath ^ (‘the same’, written above) unto my Son John ACHURCH of Rushden aforesaid Farmer and to his Heirs and Assigns for Ever Chargeable Nevertheless with the Due Payment of all the aforesaid Legacies And of the said Annuity of Ten pounds a Year by me Given to my said Wife as aforesaid And also with all my Just Debts and funeral Expences And I also Give to my said Son John ACHURCH the Silver Tankard which shall not be Deemed part of the Household Goods And I also Make Nominate and Appoint my said Son John ACHURCH full and Sole Executor hereof Declaring this to be my True last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have to this my last True Will and Testament Contained in three Sheets of Paper to each whereof I have Set my Hand and to the last my Hand and Seal the Second Day of July in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy five

Presence and in the Presence of each other

June 25th 1776 John ACHURCH the abovenamed
Executor appeared and made oath for the due
execution and performance of the abovewritten
Will, to exhibit a true and perfect Inventory of all
and Singular the Goods & Chattels of the deceased into
the Registry at Northampton within six months
from this date, that the amount of Effects
of the said disceased exceeded forty Pounds in
Value, and that he will render a just
Account of his said Administration when
thereunto lawfully called before me
