Settlement Indemnity Bond 1691


[in Latin] The bond of William Palmer of Braughton Astley LEI yeoman, William Bayley & Philip Bayley of Rushden, masons. Dated 17 Dec1691.

[in English]
The Condition of this Obligation is such that whereas one Richard Palmer is now lately come to inhabit and dwell within the said parish of Rushden & likely to be Chargeable to the same if therefore the said William Palmer and William Bayley or Phillip Bayley or either of them their or either of their heirs executors Administrators or Assigns every or any of them do and shall from time to time and at all times hereafter fully & clearly acquit discharge save harmless & indemnify as well the above named Francis Bates John Jeffery Churchwardens of ye parish of Rushden aforesaid and the said Gilbert Wiles and Thomas Groome the now overseers of ye poor of ye said parish and their successors as also all the inhabitants & parishioners of ye same which now are or at any time hereafter shall be their resident & every of them of and from all and all manner of costs charges payments taxes & expenses whatsoever which shall or may hereafter in any manner of wise arise happen come grow due or be imposed upon them or any of them for or by reason or means of the said Richard Palmer his wife or children or any of them their or any of their residing living or inhabiting within the said parish of Rushden and of and from all Charges & Demands whatsoever concerning the same then this present Obligation to be void or else to be & remain in full force & virtue.
