Settlement Examination

1781



County of Northampton to wit

The Examination of Mary Maccaness now in the Parish of Rushden touching her last legal Settlement taken before us two of his Majesty’s Justices of the Peace in and for the said County the first Day of March 1781.

This Examinated on oath saith that she was born at Rushden when her Parents were duly Settled and that sometime before Michaelmas 1778 she was hired for a whole year to live with Samuel Sturges of Puddington in the County of Bedford viz. From Michaelmas 1778 to the Michaelmas following which time she served at Puddington aforesaid since which time she has done nothing to acquire a settlement in any other place but that as she believes her legal settlement is at Puddington aforesaid and further saith not.
